About Me

Hi there! My name is Erin L. Funk. I live in New Brunswick, Canada, in a historic house by the ocean where I spend my days reading, writing, and homeschooling my fifteen-year-old son. I’m a hopeless romantic, hugger of trees, dreamer, ginger, guzzler of tea and craft beer, proud Canadian, and unrepentant sci-fi nerd. I love rainy days, blue agate, John William Waterhouse, autumn, geraniums, fuzzy socks, a mix of all things old fashioned and futuristic, and late night writing sessions fueled by Irish whiskey.

I’ve been writing for about as long as I can remember. In fact, my earliest attempts at stories and poetry were scrawled in crayon. Later on, I was inspired by characters like Josephine March and Anne Shirley, although the first author who really made me want to write a book was Gordon Korman with his hilarious stories about Bruno and Boots. My intro to sci-fi was This Place Has No Atmosphere by Paula Danziger, which left a big impression on me.

Now, I tend to like my stories a little on the darker side, with a lot more action and romance. These days, I write YA sci-fi, including cyberpunk, and my idea folder is also brimming with plans for fantasy and contemporary novels. Too many stories, too little time.

Here are some collages of books, movies, TV shows, and music I love. These combine a handful of old and new favourites and the lists are always changing. It's impossible to mention them all, and I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting, so consider this a small sample of what I enjoy...

TV Shows:

  1. Hi Erin,

I love this idea of a Wordle! I never heard of it before visiting your site, but it's great and really draws a picture of 'Erin' one word at a time.

I've been perusing your site and am enjoying your tongue-in-cheek humor and the obvious pleasure you derive from exploring new books.

I seem to have found a sister at heart in the SciFi department and can't wait to meander through the rest of your postings.

PS. You can't find the floor in my house for all the books either, LOL!

    1. Hi there! I only just found your comment, seeing as I don't venture into this tab very often. Thanks for your kind words about my blog and for taking the time to visit! Glad I'm not the only one whose house cleaning dilemmas involve shifting around piles of books! :)

  2. I accidentally found you by googling my name... it is apparently also your name. Hi from another Erin L. Funk. We also like a lot of the same books. That is all. Have a good day.

  3. Happy Birthday Erin. Hope you're having a wonderful day. Miss you, love Mom.
